"Really, God?"

Do I really live what I believe about God?

Once a discouraged friend asked me what promise of God’s I utterly believed. Was there one in particular that I had made my own?  That question brought me back to an intense moment of darkness in my life, when I needed to push the spiritual reset button and decide to live like I believed a particular promise from God.

As I sat in my car remembering, I realized that a particular verse had come to mean everything to me and became one of those principal rocks upon which I walked out my everyday spiritual life.

The truth of that promise that since I was first awakened to came when I was introduced to the life of George Muller.  That promise is one of the foundational beliefs upon which SALLT was started.

What promise rocked my world?  “For I am the Lord, I do not change” (Malachi 3:6).

It is the radical notion that my Father loves me every bit as much as those folks in the Bible and is willing to be every bit as much to me as He was to them. I drank deeply of that remembrance and my darkness disappeared.

This morning I read in Exodus 25:22 of God speaking to Moses. It resonated with me as I have been pondering all that is going on in my city as I was trying not to feel overwhelmed with discerning how I should walk out God’s path successfully.  How do I lead SALLT as we serve our leaders for the well-being of a city? And God said to Moses, and to me thousands of years later, “And there I will meet with you and I will speak with you [intimately – Amp.]… about everything which I will give you in commandment to the children of Israel.”

God did indeed meet me and there came relief, because I knew my Father loves me just as much as the celebrated Moses. He will speak intimately with me and will tell me everything He has in mind for me to do, as he did with Moses. I have but to meet with Him.

Are you meeting with Him? Is there an intimacy in your meetings?
