At SALLT we have observed the Holy Spirit do His work by touching the hearts and raising the passion of different leaders for different issues. Throughout the Bible we see God appoint leaders to resolve major problems and, yet again, we have noticed that He’s not changed His methodology. Not everyone is called to everything. We have a former president of a national restaurant chain that has a deep passion for people flourishing in their workplaces across our city. That is his slice of shalom or the “common good pie”. We have others that are passionate about community well-being in education, innovation and technology, marriage, dignity for women and children, women coming out of prison – the list continues to grow as prayerful leaders look at our community and sense where God calls them to bring influence. Fortunately, that’s why there is a big and broad body of Christ – there is simply too much for any one person to do. One goal with SALLT is to serve these leaders as they bring their leadership to issues bubbling up within their hearts to address in some way.
But let’s be clear – I am not just talking about solutions to small problems. I’m talking about wielding influence in strategic unity such that significant systemic problems are resolved. Wes Lane
