WHAT IS SALLTED?

SALLTed is a one day conference where Christian leaders gather from the public, private, and social sectors to discuss God’s vision of well-being (shalom) for Metro-Oklahoma City and its citizens. It provides a space for envisioning our roles as leaders in serving that vision. Contemplating the reality that a city’s culture is a pivotal influence on the well-being of a city and is not static, SALLTed discussions encourage Christian leaders to take responsibility to purposefully help shape that culture. We believe that God loves cities because He loves the humans dwelling there. The city should be a better place to live because Christians wield strategic influence motivated by love.
The inaugural SALLTed 2012 was the historic Skirvin Hotel in downtown Oklahoma City. This first effort outlined the importance of cities, God’s view of them and our opportunities as leaders to work together towards creating a city of “salt and light”. SALLTed 2013 focused on Why Cities Matter and the development of local “Clapham Circles”. SALLTed 2014 featured Eric Swanson, author of The Externally Focused Church and To Transform a City and the forward movement towards the unity of the Body of Christ.
Dennis Peacock, founder and president of GoStrategic, was the keynote speaker for the first Spring SALLTed 2015: Thinking Higher, addressing key Christian business leaders and a larger audience concerning our opportunities to build upon the “civic transformation” Oklahoma City has experienced by purposing to strategically plan on a “Kingdom transformation” by the Christian business community coming to a common systemic purpose.

Holistically preparing individuals, businesses, and churches for times of disaster and unrest was the focus of SALLTed FALL 2015: Kingdom United, Communities Connected, Families Prepared with agencies, churches, and community leaders will come together to create a plan of how to love and serve central Oklahoma in the now as well as future times of uncertainty.
There came a tipping point moment in ancient Jerusalem at which the citizenry at large rose up in unison to rebuild the broken walls of the city. They moved past thinking about it, to doing it. It was a galvanizing event toward the restoration of their community shalom. This was SALLTed Spring 2016: No One Else is Coming. The SALLT membership at large, not staff, declared the time ripe to craft a master strategy for the Kingdom transformation of Oklahoma City which has launched the “How are the Children?” Initiative.
